DraftWork

Curated by Ishmael Houston-Jones, Danspace Project's DraftWork series hosts informal Saturday afternoon performances that offer choreographers an opportunity to show new works in various stages of development. Performances are followed by discussions and informal receptions that allow the artist and the audience a greater perspective on the other's viewpoint. Admission is free. There is no late seating.

Photo by Julie Lemberger Jesse Phillips-Fein offers the audience Pale, which seeks to define the omnipresent, but unexamined mentality and experience of being white.

Trebien Pollard presents The Black Out, an excerpt from Vegan Chitlins and the Artist Formally Known as the N-Word. This work addresses the issue of captivity as a state of fate, coincidence, and/or choice.

DraftWork is supported, in part, by public funds from The New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and City Council Member Rosie Mendez.
