"They don't make many artists like Mr. Harrell; his sophisticated, nuanced works are not to be missed." - The New York Times

As a point of departure for his latest body of work, Trajal Harrell poses the question "What would have happened if a voguer from the 1960s Harlem drag ball scene traveled downtown to perform at Judson Church with the early post-modern choreographers?" This proposition is transplanted into a contemporary context at the New Museum in Small (S), a solo performed by Harrell with visual material by artist Franklin Evans. (S) is one in a set of five pieces entitled Twenty Looks or Paris Burning at the Judson Church, which comes in five sizes: Extra Small (XS), Small (S), Medium (M), Large (L), and Extra Large (XL). (S) is co-presented by Danspace Project and the New Museum in association with Crossing the Line.

Twenty Looks or Paris Burning at the Judson Church is made possible, in part, with funds from the 2009-2010 Danspace Project Commissioning Initiative with support from the Jerome Foundation. Twenty Looks or Paris Burning at the Judson Church is part of Crossing the Line, a festival created and organized by FIAF. It is a co-production between The New Museum, Danspace Project, FIAF?s Crossing the Line Festival, Working Title Festival/Workspace Brussels, Festival Artdanthé/Theatre de Vanves. Residency support for Twenty Looks or Paris Burning at the Judson Church has been provided by Workspace Brussels, wp Zimmer (Antwerp, Belgium), and Tanzhaus Dusseldorf.
