Yvonne Meier is a two-time Bessie award-winner, most recently for Stolen, which premiered at Danspace Project in 2009. She "acts as eccentric drill sergeant" (Claudia LaRocco, New York Times) and gives the performers distillates from (often absurd) human conditions, which Meier calls "scores." She returns to Danspace to present new improvisitory inputs for musicians and dancers. The performers translate the scores in real time into complex music and dance, resulting in exciting and dramatic friction between the dancers and musicians.
